Yorkville
Urban and luxurious, Yorkville is located north of Bloor Street between Bedford Road and Yonge Street. Defined by exceptional shopping, vibrant nightlife, and high-end dining, the neighbourhood stands out as one of Canada’s premier hubs of affluence. Attracting some of Toronto’s wealthiest residents, few communities match Yorkville’s elevated reputation.
The History of Yorkville
As a neighbourhood with a very distinct profile, Yorkville’s transformative heritage is quite interesting. While now a cosmopolitan hotspot, Yorkville was once a bohemian community known for its counter-culture attitude.
During its heyday as a rambunctious arts hub, several legendary artists such as Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Gordon Lightfoot were known to frequent the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood witnessed fast-paced gentrification in the 1980s, swiftly transforming into the high-end neighbourhood it is today.
Living in Yorkville
Yorkville’s upscale, upbeat energy is well-suited to buyers seeking a distinctly cosmopolitan environment. While the neighbourhood is located just outside of the downtown core, its natural density and proximity to countless high-end amenities give it the same fast-paced feel as communities in the city centre.
Given these dynamics, Yorkville attracts buyers who appreciate the hustle and bustle such as young executives, lively downsizers, and even some smaller families too.
