With parks and trails galore and a shopping district that could be described as out of this world, Playter Estates is quickly gaining attention as an exciting and vibrant place to be.

The History of Playter Estates

The magic and charm of Playter Estates originated with the family of Captain George Playter, who originally obtained the land grants on both sides of the Don River. It all began with the construction of the Playter family farmhouse. Up until 1912, the land was primarily rural and used for agriculture.

Commercial and residential development took place shortly after, and the area gradually evolved into a vibrant community with its now famous art and culture scene. Today, it remains one of Toronto’s most dynamic and sought-after communities. The original farmhouse still stands and is now named ‘Playter Mansion’ and has been used in numerous film and television productions.
