Davisville Village

Davisville Village is a popular neighbourhood in Central Toronto, tucked away near the intersection of Davisville Avenue and Yonge Street. Its rare blend of city convenience with a small-town feel and breathtaking green spaces makes it ideal for families, singles, and retirees who love an active and modern lifestyle.

The History of Davisville Village

Davisville Village takes its name after John Davis, a prosperous landowner who moved to Toronto in 1840. Davis also founded Davisville Public School, which is still in operation today and serves students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. When you walk through the halls of this highly-rated facility, you may find it hard to believe that it all began as a humble two-room school.

In 1911, the Dovercourt Land and Building Company acquired what was known as the Davidson Glebe, and residential and commercial development began in earnest. Over the years, the area has evolved into one of Toronto’s most family-oriented neighbourhoods that is also within walking distance of local shops on Yonge Street, Mount Pleasant, and Bayview.

Though densely populated, Davisville Village is noted for its ample green space, trail access, and beautiful parks, beginning with June Rowlands Park. With six tennis courts, a playground, a ball diamond, a splash pad, and picnic tables, this is a hub of activity that brings the community together.

The main shopping district is at Mount Pleasant Village, a charming mix of old and new, from modern decor and fashion boutiques to quaint antique stores and a historic movie theatre.
